A new statistics service enabling users of mobile devices to access the wealth of statistical data compiled by the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) at all hours and without a computer was made available today. The OeNB is one of the pioneers among Europe’s central banks in releasing a software app (running on Android and iOS) that provides smart phone and tablet owners with free access to all of the central bank’s statistics as soon as they are published.
Whether you want to look up inflation rates, interest rates on savings accounts or stock market indices, the answer to any spontaneous question you might have about financial statistics is only a few taps away: Thanks to the OeNB’s new statistics app, the information will pop up on your smart phone or tablet right then and there. In other words, all time series in the OeNB’s Dynamic Statistical Database are at your fingertips, even when you are on the move.
The main functions of the app include presentation of data in charts and tables, online bookmark management and access to the most frequently requested time series. Metadata describe the methodology, scope and other details of OeNB statistics. An e-mail function permits you to send the information to friends, colleagues or even your own business mail address. Also, the statistics app makes available the latest OeNB press releases on statistics. An English-language version of the app is available for international users.
