The Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) is the central bank of the Republic of Austria and, as such, an integral part of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB). The OeNB’s legal framework is based on the Treaty establishing the European Community, the Statute of the European System of Central Banks and of the ECB, the Federal Act on the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (Nationalbankgesetz – NBG 1984) and other federal legislation. The OeNB is a stock corporation with a capital of EUR 12 million, 100% of which is held by the federal government.

 

The Governing Board is responsible for the overall running of the OeNB and for conducting the OeNB’s business. The General Council is charged with the supervision of all business not falling within the remit of the ESCB.

The OeNB’s website serves as a medium to inform the public about the OeNB’s tasks and activities as well as an information platform on issues related to the OeNB’s business.
